hi,

Sometimes, when I floor it, and I go a little higher in rpm as usual, the engine (sometimes) shakes and hesitates during acceleration. It seems like the engine doesn't get enough fuel.

Does anyone have any clue what this is about?

Could it be the Fuel filters? Fuelpump? injectors? Sparkplugs?

this is quite annoying.

thx for any suggestions.

oh... the car is a '91 190E 1.8 manual.

greetings,

Yes could be any of these, but my guess is the fuel filter or some other fuel blockage restricting the flow of fuel under high requirements. This assumes that it starts and runs Ok normally.

thx for the quick reply,

she starts in a second, and she purrs like a kitten... :)
I'll take a look at the fuel filters first.

Check the fuel pump relay is delivering full voltage to teh pump and also the pump ressure under load.

Dodgy coil perhaps?

Engine sputters

Hi, The advice by the others is good as it is important to have good filters. However I think it unlikely that the filters would restrict the flow sufficiently unless they have been on for an astronomical mileage.
My suggestion is plugs could be sooted up if used mainly for short journeys, especialy if car has a problem making it run rich. A good engine tuner should be able to diagnose.
Happy hunting,
Sadie.

thx all for the advice,

I'll sure check the sparkplugs and fuel pump also.
the 'fuel pump relay', where can I find it?

thx again
