Engine Warning Light

I went to start the car and when turning the ignition all lights came on but there was just a clicking noise than it cut out. I then tried again a few times after leaving the car for five minutes tried again and it started but now I have the engine warning light on, what do I do, and what was the problem

Check that your battery cables are clean and tightly clamped onto the battery. Pay close attention to the earth. You maybe lucky.

After checking g the battery terminals get it plugged into a Star to check what caused the light.
