Hi,

I had my car engine jet washed yesterday by a carwash garage. They took the plastic top off the engine but the injectors were covered with the foam padding thing.

The car ran fine when I drove it home, but this morning it ran really strange, it sounded like one piston wasnt firing. It wont go over more than 30 revvs too when I put my foot down. I cant drive it cos the car keeps cutting out and wont go fast...

The guy in the carwash garage said it might be cause the injectors got wet and it'll take about a week to dry out then it should run fine? Anyone have any ideas?

It's a C220 CDI late 2005 shape.

I have to ask why jet-wash an engine bay?

I always thought engines where ment to be steam cleaned if getting done from a cleaning garage?

I would never steam clean an engine. A microfibre cloth and a degreasent does a far better job without risk of damage.

Totally agree with Paul having just spent 4 hours on mine :D:

certainly but i have steam cleaned mine once a year and it has never stopped working.
but i must say my engine is not as smart as that though.
with a car like that i shall drive with the engine bay up.

Engines are protected from water for a good reason.....

I would never jetwash or steam clean an engine. A mucky rag and a tin of degreaser is much better anyway.

Why not wash your TV at the same time, then turn on, a good reason to buy a new one

Thanks for the replies guys. I let it run for a while with no improvement, it still runs like ****, engine shaking like crazy. I've been told to leave it for a few days. I had the engine washed as I had some work done to it recently and there were lots of oily marks and finger prints on the car...

I've never had a problem washing a petrol engine car as long as the distributor was covered, but mechanics today told me to NEVER wash a diesel engine... I suppose I learnt my lesson the hard way...
