I usually just leave my wiper settings on auto and let the rain sensor do its job. This has worked fine until the last couple of weeks. Now it seems as though the sensor is detecting more rain/water than is actually falling. If I leave it on auto, occasionally it will work, but more often than not it soon has the wipers up to full speed. What I end up doing is then turning the stalk another notch so its on the standard speed but permanently wiping, annoying when I only need the occasional swipe.
Maybe I just need to give the sensor a good clean? If so, where is it located?
Or is this a sympton of something starting to fail?
I read in this thread http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/141237-intermittent-wipers-not-working.html that unplugging the sensor will revert to a standard intermittent, that would be better than what I have at the moment. Ideally though I'd like to sort the problem properly.
