EV GENDER GAP

My wife is an ideal candidate for an EV , she did less than 1000 miles between MOT's , rarely drives more than 150 miles in one go and we have a driveway to park/charge it on.

She is simply not interested in them , quite happy to bimble around in her 1.8 petrol Zafira (trust me , I have tried to replace it for her on more than one occasion) she has a 'better the devil you know' type of attitude . I should be grateful really . I got so pi$$ed off with her not wanting another car I spent the money on a C55 AMG that I didn't need.

Stull got it . I will spend the money she doesn't want next time I ask on getting the rust sorted on the C55 ! :p

The numerous surveys in motoring magazines seem to back this up. Women express the same reservations such as cost, range anxiety and lack of public charging facilities as men. This despite the fact that theIr motoring profile would appear to fit EV better. What is not mentioned in the article is the fact that those women who take the plunge and do opt for EV motoring have a very high reuptake record when it comes to renewal time citing quiet running and economy as attractive factors in their second EV purchase :dk:

That’s “man maths” in action

Great article. A real hoot.

“Women don’t want to spend more money on running an EV…”. Ya think ??

“Women care for the environment. For example in the way they spend money on fashion.” Evidenced by the way that fashion items are worn seven times before being thrown away….

As has been said before, take away the massive company car tax advantage, which is still skewed in favour of male wage slaves, and the economic case still isn’t there for most women.

Women’s tastes in motors are still skewed in favour of smaller, lighter and cheaper, and EVs are still some way away from providing those vehicles in big numbers, although the Fiat 500e and MINI electric are just starting down that path

Why take a risk on a used Nissan Leaf when a Fiesta, Polo or MINI is both cheaper and more stylish? And less likely to leave you stranded…
