Well the people I had to deal with hated them, and for the most part the only thing good about it (Allegro) was the rust proofing.
So far I've got nothing that beats MB formulated cars. They are comfortable, age well, and service easy. I'm more keen towards the A class AMG line up now.

I don't know. It could be. This is the cheapest AMG series which retails for 73K GBP in India. It has a regular 4 cyl gasoline engine, with a turbo and ecu tune by AMG. And it's fitted in to a A series mini sedan. It did 0 to 100 kmph in 5 secs on sport mode. The A45 is a hatch and runs faster, but I want practicality which the A35 limo suits to my style of driving, comfortable thigh support, burmeister surround sound, 4matic, launch control, slip mode and leather all around. It's a nice mini toy for daily runs. And the ground clearance is ample. My only concern was it drives with a front wheel bias, I hate that. And headroom is less compared to other cars from the same segment.

LR and Jag, in my opinion money pits as are Bentley.Land Rover Discovery 2, bought it for 3k, spent 3k repairing it and sold it for 2k, this was all in the space of a year
I had a Allegro 1300 in the early 80's, replacing a Marina Coupe.
Agreed haha, I still wake up in the night with cold chills over that car, I've vowed never to own a LR ever again. That said, when it did work it was a very nice car to drive, I found myself praying everytime I got in it and turned the key willing it to start and nobody can live like that

Leyland Cars B/L Benelux used to play as song about B/L crap called " I can't stand the rain " often pointing comically at Marinas and Leyland 20 vans .
Now Allegros were produced in Longbridge , B/L Seneff in Belgium and at Lambrate Innocenti in Milan.
None to my knowledge were assembled in Ledbury, but I think the whole B/L production & design/management team was recruited in "DIM" "Mock" (Dymock) just down the road from you no doubt.
