Hi All,
Quite often you read about forum members returning to their car to find it in worse shape than when they left it. Perhaps someone crashed into it, or broke the window looking for a satnav unit. Not surprisingly, most crooks are keen to leave the scene without leaving ID.
Well - I scored for the good guys team on the weekend.
I'm back in London for a couple of weeks and thought that I'd take the mini out for a bit of thrashing. I was about to turn into my street when I noticed what seemed to be a bit of congestion at my end.
As is so common in our street, there isn't enough room for two cars to pass - let alone a massive lorry and a few cars travelling in different directions. The drivers had become stuck, and there was nowhere to go. The car drivers just started honking their horn until the truck driver did something.
Sadly he elected to take the corner of a recent model Toyota Previa and drive off into the sunset in order to get traffic moving. Wasn't a little scrape either. Broken tail light, damage to the bumper, loads of paint off, and crushed the passenger's side panel at the rear quite badly. The truck actually scraped it so hard that it leaned over - he knew exactly what he'd done.
I took great pride in taking his number plate, and leaving a note on my neighbour's windshield offering to help out. He called me about 15 mins later and was *really* greatful that I had elected to help out rather than ignore - as so many Londoners tend to do.
One crime that didn't go un-noticed!
