I was given the part number for the rear section exhaust for my car by a Mercedes dealer near me, number A204-490-36-35. cant get a new one but looking on ebay for used ones their are a few BUT with the part number A204-491-16-01 and for diesels. the sellers say they also use the part number for my car quoting both numbers in their listings, looking at both exhausts they look identical, can anyone confirm this before i buy one ? cheers.

Part numbers change all the time , but the parts usually don't . If it looks identical it probably will be tbh.

You could check your vin parts diagram for superceded part numbers since the car was built.

Or try autodoc for cross referencing.

yeah thats what i was thinking.

whats the VIN parts diagram ? ive looked everywhere for MB part numbers with no luck !!!!

didn't have any luck with autodoc ?

Enter your vin and look at the exhausts section. These will specific to your car , but usually specific to all 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder models from the factory.
been on that site, and comes up with a different number using my VIN compared to a local MB dealer using my reg ?????
why the hell is it so hard to get a number ? getting part numbers for my old bikes is child's play.

one thing I know for sure is the c class diesels and petrols use the same rear section exhaust with the same part number.

Because the dealers quote the most recent part numbers , the part numbers that correspond with your vin on that website were when it was manufactured, I did say that already. That doesn't mean it's a totally different part . More likely subtle changes and tweeks from the original, nothing more.

yeah your probably right, i'm gona take a chance on this system as it looks the same as the pic with the part number site, and all the pics ive found for mine look the same as well.

well the rear exhaust turned up really quickly (good seller) put the car on my low ramps (big ones will hit the bumper) for a look see, and the front section has had a 2 bolt oval flange welded on to match the rear sports exhaust  bugger !!!! so for now ive ordered some cheap baffles to slide into the pipes at the rear.
AND more warning light  so off to pick up a front wheel speed sensor. it never ends !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

new Bosch speed sensor fixed it £52.79 hopefully the seller will pay !!!!!
only took 35 minuets to fit :)
fingers crossed no more issues ?????????????
