Exhaust W210 Estate

I bought my car 7 years ago and not long after, the exhaust fell off. The reason, was the back box offside support bracket failed, the box dropped and twisted the exhaust near the manifold. I tried warranty, as to me it was an obvious part failure, no luck at all. Well, 7 years later, my car is on a ramp and I notice the support bracket is again seperated from the box and offering no support. Had it welded so all is now ok. The exhaust last time cost me about £700

Now the question, how many other owners are there out there who have experienced similar problems, two brackets in 7 years and anout 70k miles, or, how many of you can see your back box hanging below your bumper, cause if you can, your bracket has failed as well.

Thanks for the tip. I was under mine yesterday and the bracket looked fine.

Where did it fail exactly?

You may be able to prevent this happening again by painting it with POR15 (google it)

Its the estate he is chatting about, the genuine one does fail, even on 124s it is the same, salt splash from the wheels does it i think.
Well worth keeping an eye on. Mig welder can save big expense.:bannana:

Just had mine done, offside support had falled off and looks like it has been previously welded but seems to be holding up ok now

Yep, mine went as well. Got it welded and it failed again. Now rewelded with a new larger bracket on it, OK so far touch wood.
