Exhaust?

Does any manufacturer do a sports back box for an 88 2.0 manual 200?

Si

without wishing to offend.................

why?

The power gain will be minimal, it's a four cylinder engine so it won't really sound any nicer (just louder), it will draw attention to the car at the traffic light grand prix from the saxo brigade - you'll probably end up coming at least second :(. You'll pay a price on your insurance etc etc etc.

just stick some shiney tail pipes on it :D

I only really want the looks could go shiney tailpipes but thats cheating....

why is that cheating? Plenty of members here have shiney tail pipes on non shiney exhausts.

Do what you like. There are places around that will build what you like for your car.

The usual suspects Peco Janspeed etc dont do Mercedes! Your best bet for a back box would one of the custom stainless steel fabricators like powerflow exhausts. http://www.powerflowexhausts.net/HOME.CFM Then you can choose from a wide range of tailpipes twin or single, square or round etc It will cost you about £200!

Have you had any experence with them?

I had a cat back system done for my previous Civic VTi-S last year by their branch in the Midlands (who I note are no longer shown on the company website...wonder why?)

The standard of work was passable, welding was pretty good but I don't recall the pipes being mandrel bent, so marks off for that one. The staff seemed to be predominantly boy racer yoof types, but at least the Civic didn't look out of place there. Finished article looked good, and helped the car breathe, but even on a mid-sport build, by christ was it noisy! The engine note as you wound it on was very nice, but just too much volume. Having a conversation became slighty difficult when you were getting a shift on.

Was there today with Nav (KLP92) he had a freeflow system fitted, professional guys, spent the time to get the job right, they close at 5.30 but were there till 7 getting it how we thought it should be.

Personally I would not put a sports exhaust on a 190 2.0 as it would spoil the character of the car for no real benefit.
I have got a Janspeed system on my 200sx but that is part of some mild mods that produce an extra 50hp :bannana:

did you ever buy that one ?

Have you got a piccy of it fitted ?

yes,, bought one with a 6" oval outlet that has a upward kick in it,, have'nt fitted it yet,, too busy with the bike,, but for £60.00 the welding & polishing etc are spot on,,
