I HAVE A C250 TD '99 MODEL, ALL HAS GONE WELL IN THE THREE MONTHS I'VE HAD IT. BUT THE OTHER DAY I NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING DOWN FROM THE NEARSIDE FRONT BUMPER. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION I HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PART AS THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR DANGLING ON ITS LEAD ,  I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BOTTOM PLASITC WEATHER SHIELD WAS SPLIT .  MY QUESTION IS CAN SOME ONE TELL ME WHERE THE SENSOR NORMALLY LIVES AS I CAN'T SEE AN OBVIOUS MOUNTING PLACE ? WOULD I BE CORRECT IN ASSUMING THE DAMAGE TO THE BOTTOM WEATHER SHIELD HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS AND THE MOUNTING ASSEMBLE DISSAPPEARED WHEN THE DAMAGE OCCURED

according to Haynes.....it clips to the rear of the left-hand (passenger side) lower trim panel on the front bumper.  Thats below the number plate next to where the driving lights would go...if they fitted them  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

or here.....that's it poking through the black plastic in the centre of the photo.

Thanks Dave thats a great help I'll go and have a look and see if there's a vacent hole. As mine's the same model/ year as yours I'm optimistic .

I also had a C250TD, 1997 model which after a long trip to the south of france I noticed a "dangly bit" from under the front bumper. It turned out to be the temperature sensor -like yours which I just clipped back into its hole, with the pointy bit forward (less air resistance I think).

I think it may have been loose for a while - perhaps why sometimes the climate control got a little "confused".

- Hope you got it all together...
