Specifically air con & cruise. Both together, they're not overly common on 6-cylinder W201s & W124s. How are they viewed in older cars? Must haves? Desirable? Or just a nice bonus if both are present? Is one preferable to the other (I'd guess at air con)?

Thought / comments?

Nice to have. I have both...given a choice of one...cruise control everytime.

Nice to have, Cruise is my preference.

On buying the car extras will be worth money. On selling the car they mysteriously will not be worth anything..

I`d say both is good but if you find one with aircon only, crise can be retrofited for little money

Interesting.
I find cruise only marginally more useful than the most useless acessory ever - electric folding headrests, with you having to manually put them back up.
Aircon for me every time.

I DO find speedtronic very useful, though.

My 124 has A\c which is very useful. It would be even more useful if it worked.

I've AC and cruise. I couldn't have a car without AC now. Cruise on mine is now intermittent - if you do any motorway miles, its great to have.. now its playing up again, I notice the difference on a 270 mile round trip every Friday.

A/C essential and cruise only if it is distronic.

Highly subjective topic.

Some people go out of their way to own cars WITHOUT A/C due to perceived cost of maintenance and fuel economy concerns.

A/C and cruise are quite rare on W201/W124s and distronic was never an option!

Air Conditioning is essential. When I was couriering in a van, I spent £1,600 to have air conditioning retro fitted. Doing silly thousand miles a year, after going up and down offices with A4 boxes and computer equipment, it's definitely worth it, especially on a hot day.

I haven't driven a car without a/c since the early 90's and have no plans to do so in the next 20 years. I have no other way of keeping myself cool.

I've had cruise on my C43's for seven years and have never bothered to find out how to use it. I have a right leg to maintain my speed.

My C43 is my first car with AC (having been almost exclusively in 1980s German metal previously) and I do like it.

I generally use CC only in 50mph roadworks with SPECs. The limit function would probably be a good idea to start using though...

Only if you set it at the limit, I set mine @ 100mph and got a ticket

Both fall into the 'nice to have' category .

CC I would say is more useful , particularly these days with so many stretches of roadworks with average speed cameras , or if you do long motorway journeys .

On a 190 , a/c is likely to be an R12 system in need of conversion unless a very late one , with both 201 and 124 models you'll be lucky to find it in working order . It can be desirable for a few weeks in the summer ; the rest of the time in this country it is unneccessary .

I use the limit all the time , its brilliant.

As much as i pay attention to whats going on around me , its way too easy to drift over the speed limit in our cars without too much effort. This removes the problem.

excellent addition to a car

I would never buy a car (new or used) without A/C. Cruise I can live without although it is very very good to have.

Currently do not drive an MB and I really miss the speed limiter fitted. Really a great invention. Especially when driving through road works with avg speed cameras.

OT: Even my 23yrs old Volvo 780 has climate and cruise - both works perfectly.
