The facelift E-Class will be unveiled at the NY motor show on Wednesday 12th April.

Because I am good to you lot here are some of the details sent to me last week and strictly confidential so don't tell anyone ;)

New grille, front bumper, headlights, rear lights, door mirrors as expected.
Revised suspension and more direct steering.
Extended 3rd brake light across almost entire width of vehicle (estate only).
All models will have rear bumper and side skirts from pre-facelift Avantgarde model.
Digital display for automatic climate control.
New split load floor on estate model.
New interior/exterior colours, alloy wheel designs, steering wheel design, gearlever.
New stowage net and fold down hooks for shopping bags in boot (saloon only).
Tyre pressure loss warning system.
PRE-SAFE & NECK PRO
Adaptive brake lights.
New active brake system (hydraulic) replaces SBC. Includes HOLD function, brake drying and priming.
Rain sensors with 2 sensitivity settings.

New engines:

E200K uprated to 184bhp. 0-60 in 9.1s.
E220CDi uprated to 170bhp, 295 lbft, 0-60 in 8.4s (new 220 has on paper similar performance to old 5 cylinder 270).

E500 receives new 5.5 V8 with 388bhp.

E63AMG replaces E55AMG with new 507bhp 6.2 V8.

There will be a lot of talk at the launch of the new Intelligent Light System. This incorporates variably controllable headlamps with 5 different functions. Automatic adjustment of headlamps based on speed and steering direction to optimise and improve visibility in following modes: motorway mode, country mode, enhanced fog lamps, active light function and cornering light function.

Sorry no pics.

I've had the pleasure of trying this, and it's good.

How quiet and smooth was it and what about mid range grunt?

not much quieter than the current 220, but smoother.

Pulled the E class estate body like a train. I guess the V6 diesel is in another league again, but then, with this engine, there's the chance of brilliant economy too.

I would buy one, it's the perfect compromise i think. More than enough poke for everyday driving.

I think it looks quite a lot like the Kia Amanti.

You might have to get right up to the monitor....

Looks very good and the pcis are similar to the ones earlier shown in other spy shot threads which I liked back then.

Car looks alot fresher and front bumper looks similar to the AMG one...
