hello all, i am lookinf for some advice. my c200 cdi recently ran out of diesel and these faault codes have come on and i have used an odb2 reader to try and read and delete them without success!!! i cahanged the oil and diesel filters which wre only recently done anyway to try and solve the problem. but the engine management light still displays these 2 codes, and the car has lost its power because its running in limp mode. has anybaody out there got any ideas?

If your code reader wont dellete the codes you may have to pop down to the dealer, ring and get a price first as a better reader may be the same price and then you have got it for keeps.
What reader are you using?

Hi there. I have the C220 Cdi. I also got the P1400. You will get all sorts of advice that it could be 1) The MAF Sensor 2) The EGR valve 3) The EGR valve solenoid. but wait! it can also be 4) the DPF Sensor! if you have a DPF fitted.

as its 40 quid to tell you what it is ..I drew up a work list with reasons.

1. Change DPF filter sensor (its on £27.00)
2. Change the MAF sensor (This one is £65.00 but I figured it needed a new one anyway even if thats not causing the problem i would have bought it)
3. Clean out the EGR valve (free but dirty)
4. if all that fails - go and pay for it to get put on star

Turns out my problem was number 1.

You can tell if you have a DPF fitted by looking at the Air filter. If you see two small pipes at the back on the outside of the air filter housing (between the windscreen and air filter box) then you have a DPF (Dust Particulate Filter ...in the exhaust system)

These two pipes are where the sensor is. you need to unclip the connector and then unclip a metal bracket to get it off the air filter box.

then you need to get the pipes off it. - Use small pliers to squeez the hose clamps. and pry them off.

The sensor will need a tucg and a turn but will come off.

Make suure you have some small Jubalee clips. The real ones not cheapy ones.

Now put your sensor on and clear the P1400 Code.
