Went out with a friend today in his new Ferrari California.

Beautiful car to look at, sounds awesome and is extremely quick but!

The interior is pretty average for a £100,000 plus car, the Satnav and screen quality is terrible and graphics very poor and not a patch on my E Class.

The sound system is ok but nothing to shout about really.

How can Ferrari and why would they fit such poor quality kit in a car in this price range.

When my lottery win comes up Aston Martin all the way for me, but I am in the old boys league one.

Because they sell all they can make I expect, good point though

Ferrari et al put their efforts into a sports car, the rest is secondary really.

Also keep in mind that your car has sold in the millions and as such more R&D will go into what the customer requires for such a car, when I first drive a Gallardo I thought the switch gear etc was too Audi but the driving experience was really really good.

Most Ferrari's have shocking build quality & poor material quality on the inside.

Surely the real sound system in a Ferrari is the noise it makes when you plant your right foot.

Yup!
It does sound awesome and as we were visiting a classic car show whilst queuing up we got lots of comments and waves.

I prefer the low profile of my car but the acceleration on this car is scary and loud

You go out in a Ferrari califonia and you mention poor sat nav and audio?

In my mind you are one of a few things....
old
a billionaire
not a car person.

 :D no offence intented
I've never been lucky enough to go in a Ferrari, if I ever do, I wont care where I'm heading and the radio will be turned off!

tbh I don't think people who drive a car like that give a hoot about audio or indeed interior trim or quality, they drive it because its exotic and loud and says look at me.

They probably have several other cars sitting around with some of the finest cow hide and audio systems when they feel that way.

I don't like Nissan GTR because I think it has poor quality interior. It is fast but ...

I don't think you'll be too impressed with an Aston either to be fair.

I had a DB9 for an evening a few years back - wasn't old at the time but the telematics system felt ancient and although looked awesome outside, inside was very under whelming.

I had one and I agree with most of what you said, I also had rattles on mine which was fixed eventually but come on, never had such issues with my 911s, way better cars.

Speed wise, mine was the Cali30 which had an extra 30hp and some other improvements over the standard model like better suspension.

Felt more like a 60k rather than 120k plus car

Although a 458 Italia is on my wish list... :o

I drove one a few weeks ago at a super car track day event - in that exact colour combo

Nice cars !!

I've just sold one for a customer.....have to say that I think the interior leather is pretty spot on in terms of quality and that its also a very comfy interior to sit in. Sat Nav is poor by current standards, but so are a lot of inbuilt systems in some premium motors

A lot of the details on the car are pretty top notch in my opinion......I've driven some other Ferrari's over the years and a lot of them would be hell to drive on a regular basis and left me underwhelmed, but the California rides well, has a great engine and gearbox and you could drive to the South of France and get out at the other end as fresh as a daisy.....in other words exactly the way Ferrari intended the California to be when they designed it and why they've sold so many of them.

Supercar?.....no.......great GT?......yes.

I think it's more a case that the fit and finish of mass market cars has improved so much over the past 15 years that low-volume cars such as Astons and Ferraris are always going to feel a little bit low-rent on the inside.

I went with a friend to pick up his F12 at **** Lovett's ( £ 246,000 ) It had £80,000 of extra's £ 18,000 for the Toro Rosso F1 Paint the rest for extra Carbon Fibre etc.

The interior was excellent, for that price I wouldn't expect any thing else !!

Joe, those wheels look really plain, there proper boring lol, what were you thinking........:D

I was about to buy some HRE 19" wheels but I decide to sell it and go to the 911 route... better choice!

Compare this to my current GTS wheels ;)

40k less and also better to drive.
