Finally got the AMG out..

Hi Rash, Just back from Ollys - he came out with me to listen for a long established whine from the nether regions of my car - and guess what, I actually got to drive home with the roof down. Cold but well worth a bit of a chill to drive topless again.

Good man that Olly!!!

:D

Great stuff! :thumb:

Glad Olly was able to get things sorted.

Not happy.

At a loose end tonight and wanted to take the car for a run.

It's going to be cold tonight but nothing crazy. Dry roads and clear skies. Perfect really.

Ran reconnaissance in the Alfa to make sure the roads were ok..

They've gritted the bloody roads

What the hell's the matter with these fools :wallbash:

"Oh no.. It's abit cold.. Better drop a tonne of sh#t down on the roads!"

Looks like the AMG will have to wait until the next dose of rain cleans the roads. Again! :wallbash:

I hate winter. It's made worse by the poxy councils.

Have they all of a sudden got an abundance of salt now?! :wallbash:

Rant over.

They've probably got a sudden abundance of over protectiveness as most people need a cotton world world now.

As mentioned before Rash. GTG at Brooklands on the 17th, it will be dry and sunny. See you there

Whatever it is, it's bloody ridiculous.

What the hell do they think is going to happen over night with clear skies??.... an bloody ice age?!?! :wallbash:

It's pathetic.

And after they throw sh#t loads of salt and grit around.. do they even have the decency to get road sweepers out to clear their sh#t up? Hell no! They just leave it all sitting around to be flicked up on our cars :wallbash:

I hear you, Pete

I've put my name down for the PH meet on the 17th, but if they have rain up over Silverstone on that day, I probably won't go. I will then look at what the weather is doing over london and join you guys if it's all clear.

Don't be a wimp Rash, do both. Or are you scared of the dreaded limp mode as per the last MB World GTG?

With a clear sky and the temp. possibly dropping below zero tonight there is a chance of some ice on the roads in the morning.

If they don't salt the roads, there is a possibility of the roads being closed due to crashes so you would not be able to go out and enjoy a drive anyway.

Yes, they were gritting the A27 as I was coming home.

If you had seen this,
Episode 1 | Winter Road Rescue | Channel 5

then you would be glad that they grit some of the roads - especially if you have driven the Applecross pass.

Driven the Applecross a few times, but never in winter conditions.
Great road with superb views, if the cloud isn't down.

I drove it once in good conditions - Seeing the program that I mentioned in my previous post nearly made me mess my pants - knowing what the road was like and thinking of them driving it in 4 to 5 foot snow drifts.

I saw that programme, it certainly made you appreciate the work these guys do, even if it does curtail Rashman's driving :)

Well...This did happen...

Why on Earth would the Council want to sweep up expensive salt, the idea is that it provides protection against freezing for as long as possible.
