R172 SLK
Well I got the car last Friday from MB Wakefield they have been fantastic from ordering to collection, apart from the slight pressure to pick it up before end of June I did turn that into my advantage to get more freebies.

So the car, its the first time i have owned a 2 seater and so far I am loving it, apart from the lack of sun. The seats are good and the Engine Gearbox combo work a treat and so far after 500 miles I am getting a respectable 34mpg. The standard sound system and USB with DAB are fantastic even better than a previous Audi. The car handles very well, better than I was expecting and is very smooth on rough surfaces. The 3 gear box modes couldn't be more different, E is quick to up change wont over rev and for motorway use is fine, sport mode is nice with the roof down as the noise on up and down changes are great. Manual is what it says on the tin.

I have been surprised with amount of attention the car has been getting, from a fairly standard car. The colour looks stunning and I think I chose the right colour leather despite knowing now they will be a nightmare to keep clean.

here are the pics:

Very nice - what engine ?

Spec is:

AMG Sport Pack
Auto Gear Box
Cavansite Blue
Crystal Grey Leather
Interior Light Pack
Heated Seats
Air Scarf

The blue and grey look very handsome together - congrats. I am keen to see just what it will look like in full sun - I think you will get lots of different shades from the paintwork (there are several when overcast it would seem). Will look super.

The only thing I don't like on these new Mercs is the orange and fawn scheme of the command menus....shame you can't flash them a different colour!

I will get some up if and when we get some full sun, it does change colour and you are right it was very overcast when i took these pics.

My Comand is Black and Light Grey i think

looks sensational. I especially like the alloys.

the 4 cylinder engine is lighter than the V6 and no doubt handling and steering is better.

^^What he said. Sensational sums it up. Great to see MB making some desirable cars again.
MUCH nicer (imho) than the R171

I hate you :)

Thanks Guys, it does feel pretty nimble.

I must say the quality of the Interior plastics is above BMW now, nearly matches Audi, I hope im saying the same in a year or so.

So do I. I want one.

Looks great,

My dad had the one of the very first SLK's and kept it for 7 yrs (his weekend toy) I used it a few times and people were always amazed when the roof folded into the boot.

Back then 1998 it was quite something... he loved that car.

Enjoy

Looks great - R172 best looking SLK yet :)

It works for me.
