My first effort down the strip yesterday - hence the confused expression in the first pic

Had an excellent day - convoyed up to Santa Pod with Jay and Sye, and met loads of new people too - great fun :)

Two goes on the strip was enough for a first day, as I did want to be able complete the 2 hour drive home with the car in one piece.

Hi Def in car video here - http://www.vimeo.com/1775019

A very friendly atmosphere too - thought it would be more competitive and intimidating for a newbie, but not at all.

Stats were...

1st run:

Reaction + .983
60ft - 2.910
330ft - 6.2529
1/8 ET - 8.9529
1/8 MPH 90.80
1000' ET 11.2105
1/4 ET - 13.2277
1/4 MPH - 114.97

2nd run:

Reaction + 4.6953 - oops
60ft - 2.0041
330ft - 5.2687
1/8 ET - 7.9565
1/8 MPH 91.59
1000' ET 10.2068
1/4 ET - 12.2158
1/4 MPH - 116.25

Got slightly into trouble with the marshall for crossing the line at over 110 mph without wearing a helmet, but as it was my first day and I had no idea what speed I would reach, they let me off this time :)

And I think there will be a next time, so I best get shopping for a helmet

Thanks. Nice day out, vid is stunning well done - car's looking so gooooood.

Steen is trying to talk me into a Kleemann supercharger and headers for my C55 - after listening to yours i am getting a little interested.... he he.

Ooh, you've GOT to get the headers at least :)

The Kleemann header already sounds tuff on my little C200K, so i am seriously considering the headers and supercharger at the moment for the C55 really want to research it a bit more.

Very good. Sounds and looks gorgeous. Your stats missed off the average mpg;)

Lovely car and great pics:D
Hope you enjoyed yourself and the car has had the cobwebs blown out.
I have to confess to a 10.3 1/4.....but not in the Mercedes...it was on two wheels and fully road legal:devil:

I love this car! Looks great. Liked the music in your 1st Vid (28 days later)

Have you considered spraying the bonnet star black?

12.2 is a very fast time, congrats. Do you think it could get much quicker from the launch? Now if you could get into high elevens you would be part of a very exclusive group.

Fantastic car on all levels, extremely envious I am. I can only imagine the attention that car gets in Croydon!

Great Pictures and Video.

Thanks for posting very interesting....

Next time your at the Pod let me know it's just down the road from me and i'll come along for a peek....

Cheers
Mark

What could I say, another example showing how you can save money with a diesel car, no need to buy a helmet. :D :o

I was wondering where from did the other car appear at the end of the video since no one was obviously passing you. Do they let the next one drive so soon that a fast car reaches one from the previous round before it leaves the track?

60ft - 2.0041
1/8 MPH 91.59
1/4 ET - 12.2158
1/4 MPH - 116.25

Very nice times for the first trip

60ft is slightly slow - 1.7-1.8 would be better for a RWD road car, which if you achieve it should drop you comfortably into the 11's
1/8th MPH is slightly slow for the ET whereas the terminal speed at the 1/4 is in the ballpark for the ET so that car must really haul at the top half :D
Terminal speed is directly proportional to power output and you will find that the terminal speed is about the same (generally within 5-10mph) on all correctly completed runs at full power good or bad

We had the same problem too - but a trackday helmet now serves a dual purpose

I've got a spare one, so might give it a go :)

On my first run I was against a modded Fiat Coupe 20VT - you can see it briefly at the start.

Second run I buggered up my staging, so modded E34 BMW (I think) went first, then I went on my own

Going to get some more practice in when it's a bit colder - was 68F on Sat, and the car gets very hot under the bonnet. Might consider a larger intercooler too.

What car were you driving?
