First time at the 1/4 mile with the C63(W204)

IMO the track wasn't great on Saturday.

I managed to just get into the 11's in my Stage 1 RS3, but I was hoping for better tbh.

Another day, another chance.

If drag strip running was that easy, we'd all be getting the best time, every time.

Shame you got choked out by a poxy hatchback Eddie! :D

Car is good for low 12's at Santa pod I would expect with a better 60 FT. Santa is around +0.1% slope so I'd be surprised if you could replicate a 11.9 on a FIA strip. Shakespeare will be poor for RWD the surface isn't great.

When we went pod last time Danny ran a 12.01 (me driving his C63 BS) that was a perfect launch to be honest and low 60ft, and then Omar ran 12.1 and some others were in around 12.3!

Yeah, I think 12.0/1/2 is an easily achievable target with better grip. Getting below the 2s 60ft mark is the challenge though. Plenty of P30/1 cars in US with sub 12s on street tyres so even a high 11 could be banged out on the perfect day. To be honest though, Pod and Shakey are so badly run it's never a pleasure to attend these days. So many hours wasted on track prep, staff fag breaks and bloody lunch! All the while the staff take £25/£50 a pop ticket money. I only got 4 runs in by 2.30pm on Saturday and it wasn't even that busy.

On the Shakey vs Pod grip thing. I always found Shakey better for grip than Pod on street tyres. Certainly worked better with the A45 for both me and Shaun.

For me it' all about the 100-200 / 60-130 and VMax. Get me a charger bolted on for next season and I'll be back up Brunters for some improved runs.

So charger it is then, not turbos ;)

Getting a charger needs man pods Eddie..... you got what it takes? :D

Buy my car :bannana:

Nah, i prefer red. Sorry mate. And, i've seen you drive ;)

Today, we tried again. Shakespeare is due to close soon as it's due to be turned into land for housing. It was a cold start but here is how the McMerc got on at a less slippery track. Pretty good going i'd say :)

Terminals dropped because they applied loads of track glue mid morning due to the stupid bikes spilling oil everywhere.

Eddie

So not a material change ? C63 will never be a 1/4 rocket unless you have stupid power. The car will have the muscle once going but I know you already know that Eddie.

Nope, no other mods that add benefit. Just a much better day for it.

Roll on the spring. Could very well be supercharger time :)

One thing I will say: I'll never put mpss on a C63 again. What a truly awful tyre for this car!

Really why ? Surprised at that

Far too soft. Very wallowy on corners due to no wall strength. They do grip OK in a straight line but they also track badly on worn roads. Much preferred the 5Ps

AD08Rs were great but finding stock of 275 width is really hard.

Contis have a much better tyre structure and stronger sidewall. Pilot sport 4 have same issue.

This is interesting .

On the M135 and M235, the MPSS were the best road tyre I've ever used , go over to the GTR forum and the MPSS seem to be a bit of a marmite tyre, a lot adore them and some hate them!

I must say , I was going to try the MPSS next !

Got MPSS on mine and have had no issues.

Had Yokos on previously which were super sticky but only lasted about 2500 miles then turned to slicks.

I just fitted some yokos in my cls I wonder how long they will last!

RS3 guys also saying MPSS a bit crap on the corners but then again it's an Audi :)

I think it's to do with the weight of the car. Vreds were fine on my RS6 and E61 M5. Those are properly heavy cars. The road bite was awesome. But, I tried them on my last C63 and found them dangerously slippery. Possibly just not heavy enough at the back.

These MPSS were great for the A45 by all accounts but I just don't feel the cornering ability with them on the C63.

I find the contis the best in the C63 .
