Hi there guys and gals just wondering if anyone else has experienced the laquer/colour coming of parts of their dash namley the button for the glovebox and buttons on the COMAND.

I thought it was a really small surface mark but after close inspection its the actual colour come off slightly?

Do Mercedes provide touch up kits or something?

thanks
Barrie

Dashboard button are transparent or white and silk screen printed, it is the black that comes off leaving the clear base colour. Not easy to re do. these things should have been clear lacquered to prevent this from happening.

Those without numbers or letters you could spray in mat black, still not easy to do

No good for your COMAND button, but may be of use on your glovebox:

anyone else had this prob?

I have seen cars for sale where this has happened, one SL had all of the lettering rub off on the center console. I start to think that the cars affected have been cleaned with something that they should not have been cleaned with. Continually polishing will take the paint off

yes i have plenty of cars with this... i get a local trim company to repair it if its really bad, otherwise just change the part with a new one from MB..

can i get a part for the mute button on the comand and the buttone to open the glovebox?

cause i would just get these if it were possible?

P.S is there software i can get/use to locate and tell me the actual part i need...i hate phoning my local merc garage :)
