Fog light upgrade

My 58 plate e320 cdi sport has xenons and very blue/white side lights (dont know if this was standard)but the fog lights are halogen and very 'yellow' in comparison. Wouldnt mind too much if only fog but as they are also used for cornering would like them to be more of a match.
Two questions, 1. is there a good replacemnet bulb that replicates the xenon blue/white light and 2. contrary to the owners manual can these be changed at home
Thanks

I just ordered - MTEC 12v 55w SUPER WHITE HID CLASS UPGRADE BULBS (MTEC SW 55w) = £12.30 Bulb Choice H11 55W for mine. When they get here, I'll post again re fitting them and how they look. Someone on this forum recommended them.

If you ever have to use these lights in fog you will regret upgrading to a whiter light as it causes more back reflection.

Watching drivers of cars fitted with Xenon headlights is highly amusing in thick fog. They can't see a thing.

How do you know they can't see a thing?

I've only used my bi-xenons in fog and admittedly it wasn't a pea-souper but the very sharp beam cut-off helped reduce reflection. It certainly was no worse than my original halogens for reflection and significantly better at illuminating further forward.

I'll look forward to that.

The bulbs haven't arrived yet, but it's looking like I may have to take the car to someone (Olly) to have them fitted. Since my spinal surgery, I'm just not the man I used to be. :) As for additional glare in fog - I can't recall the last time I had to use foglights on any of my cars in fog!

I upgraded my 9006 HB4 fog bulbs to try and match my bi xenons and side lamps but not much difference as the bulbs are just a crisper white than then standard yellow halogens - the proper way is to get top notch xenon bulbs for the fogs and the full kit otherwise just a waste of money IMO as you will not get the cosmetic effects your looking for. I am buying the xenon kit for the fogs.

I put the MTEC 55 H7 Super White in the Jag but though they looked good didn't light up the road enough so changed them for Ring Ultima which are much brighter but not so white. Think that the really white bulbs are more cosmetic than the lesser white.

I would be interested also, since replacing my side lights with LED bulbs that match the Xenons the fogs look odd. Only when I unlock or lock the car do I tend to see them as cannot remember actually using the front ones...

I've not noticed any difference driving my car in fof with Xenons or my wifes without? simply slow down for the conditions?

Driving alongside on a dual carriageway makes it obvious and they all drive slower as a result.

Fog and rain is the reason that Mercedes used to fit slightly golden lamps as standard.

If you want to see more on fog get cooler (K rating) or toward the yellow. I would say the 4300K or less for fog but if you want to look cool still don't go past 6000K (even on headlights).

I got some led's for my for fog lights to match the rest of the car , they look great and work in the fog fine . I cant remember the seller but they cost around £20 and £5 for the resistors . Ten minute job .
