Hi All! Hope this is in the correct section!
I drive an E220 CDi W211 Avantgarde Facelift with just over 214,000 on the clock (he says proudly!) which is in brilliant condition still.
Recently my passenger side mirror has not been folding open to the correct position, going way past where it is supposed to stop. On manually positioning it, the detent where it is supposed to click into place is in all sorts of positions and I suspect something inside is moving around when its not supposed to. Either that or, if the thing is controlled electronically in this regard, there is an issue with that.
Does anyone have advanced knowledge of the way these things are attached, how they swivel and what controls positioning. I am happy to strip it down once I have some knowledge of what I am looking at. For example, how one might split the bracket from the inner mechanism body without destroying the press clip...
I have had the right side one in pieces out of the car for the purpose of replacing some of the wires in the harness that had perished and broken, so I would not be working "in the dark".
