I got the car back from the dealer yesterday and have noticed that for some reason the footbrake no longer makes the "ratchet" sound or feeling when applied (like when applying a traditional handrake without pressing the button), but is smooth, quiet and spongey. Is this an update (I like it), or is it broke? On recent form with my dealer, it'll be broke.....

Any thoughts?

Marc

Could they possibly have greased the rachet mechanism?
Although most dealers would not know what grease is.

Unlikely as it was in for new fuel injectors. The car broke down and wouldn't start. I doubt they would be that proactive.

Thats the mechanics way of saying he loves the car.

Hi Marc,
I have read somewhere that when we take our 211's in for service or other work, the dealer will carry out a number of updates. Have you heard of anything, and I wonder if something was done to your car whilst it was having work carried out on the engine?

The updates I am refering to does not include the SBC recall. (that should have been carried out months ago)

(Don't forget the grease mechanics like to put on the drivers door sill thingie)

Have a nice day,
John

I would ask the dealer exactly what was done to the footbrake whilst it was in. Dont tell them what you have noticed, draw the information from them.

But first, can you be sure it definitely had the normal ratchet sound before it went in to them?

My car does the same .. used to click and now doesnt .....

I wish that bl**dy seatbelt not on buzzer would break too ..

Had this on the courtesy car and it drove my wife mad - she occasionally chooses not to wear a belt (wrong I know, and not my choice), and even she had to relent.

US owners are working hard to try and get it turned off - apparently there is a way..........?

But that's the whole point of it.

Why would anyone want to turn it off really? Do people really still try and drive without a seatbelt?

Sometimes i just don't feel like it , so the car is dictating to me

Even manouvering the car in the driveway , moving between shops etc etc ...

I don't say i drive long distances with it off , but it really gets on your nerves
