Formula 1 Predictions

Personally I don't think Jenson's going to win a race. Like Henman didn't win Wimbledon. Far from being a criticism, I think both are top world-class sportsmen just not near enough to the best. Jenson was unfortunate that Ferrari had such domination - but 3 other drivers won a race each in his best year. Last year was a setback - this year will be similar to his good year. A number of podiums but no wins. Hope I'm wrong as I'm a fan.
Erm, well done Jens :bannana: for making me eat my words and good luck to Tim next year!

Yep - well done Jen! Just goes to show tactics/strategy can have a big impact, as well as a large slice of fortune.

Best thing about the race though - was seeing the pace car - it looked lovely...did anyone see the shot just before it came off at the pit lane? It went sideways through the chicane...gotta just love that.:)

I'm going to try the same manoeuvre in my 300TD on the way to work tomorrow.

:D   ;)

Incidently, does anyone know how they select the pace car...is it just done on how much money the sponsors put forward...for example, what is stopping BMW using a M6, have they even tried.....just thinking out loud??

Mercedes would object.

Mercedes not only partner McLaren, they Provide all F1 safety cars. this include medical cars for trackside use at all F1 GP and have done as a sponsorship deal since 1996.

They also provide as part of the deal, 14 trucks to transport the digital TV and race control systems to each GP. Before mercedes Renault did it and the Renault F1 espace built by Williams was an idea for a safety car (Not pace car, thems yank cars) for formula 1 races. the fact is was 6 seconds a lap slower at silverstone than a full on F1 car didnt help.

The safety car idea came around 93 i think, but it was good exposure. I do recall the odd Laguna charging round infront on the pack.

Audi's are used in the Le-mans Series and the GP masters. and I think BMW do the WTCC.

The F1 car is used in GP2 which supports F1 races.
