Franks new to him CLS 55 Amg

Massive improvement on the wood!

FWIW my 2 x C43's had carbon effect trim, my previous and current E500's have black ash. My strong preference.

Great car, BTW. I fancy getting one one of these days.
Thanks for that. I was a bit unsure. Wrapping guy suggested black but as the interior is kind of black and grey two tone I thought the carbon would suit it better. Worked out great. Really brought the interior a bit more up to date.

Obviously if u have had the 43s and 500,s in the past you already know what your getting into but I certainly wouldn't put any fella off picking one up. They are fantastic. It's an event every single time I drive it. Had a few new cars over the last few years , gti, golf r, 3 series, 5 series, audi q5 and no matter the tech or comfort they offer none of them hold a candle to how this thing makes me feel 😀 Even just looking out the front window at is a joy haha. And that's all before probably the best bit. How it sounds.. anyway sorry for getting a bit carried away there. I adore it. ✌️😀

I've been slightly obsessed with 55K's after seeing an SL55 doing a full bore start outside up a pub in the Chilterns back when they were new. Still one of the most spectacular noises ever come from a road car.

I've kicked the tyres of SL55s a bit over the years but, tbh, I prefer coupes to convertibles. If I'm not going to have the top down, there's no point in all the weight and complexity. But, unlike the XKR, there's no two door FHC. Which leads me to the CLS which makes sense (to me) as a simpler and more sensible alternative to an SL. Fabulous profile, to boot.

I looked myself at the SL 55. Huge want factor just the looks alone but ultimately I've a wife and 2 kids. Well big kids now but still for a day out need 4 seats. Couldn't live with 2 on the day to day. Big part of my choice was reviews of the engine and 5 speed gearbox. I'm hoping I can keep the rest maintained if the guts are as reliable as I've heard. Having said that my mechanical know how is limited but I want to learn as I go. 👍

The guts are E Class so generally tough. With the SL you get added complexity of the roof mechanism, boot seals and ABC. None of that with E's and CLS's.

Well still tipping away at the car. How do people feel about the lights? I think the blue hue suits the original glass
