From Blue To Matt Black!!

It's certainly different.....not sure myself but it does stand out..

Must be a B!tch to polish and wax though..:D

A nice set of AMG's with polished lips and matt black spokes to match the body would look

Very brave. I could not live with a non shiny car

Has it got a Knight Rider scanner light on the front yet ?

:-)

If you do this, do you register it as black with DVLA? I guess you'd have to even though it's reversible.

Needs some mat black rims and its sorted :D I really like it. Take it the vinyl will come off leaving no blemishes on the paint.

It might be a really good rust proofing technique :D

Hi all,

Thank you for all your comments.

I know! I know! I defiantly need bigger wheels they will be purchased in a month or two.

With regards to going back to the original colour, the bumpers and wing mirrors are painted so would need striping and re-spraying. The vinyl would peel off but it would take a while and the paint underneath would be fine.

I was advised to wash it with washing up liquid so not to put a shine on it.

It cost £900+VAT and got it done at The Sign Shop in Sheffield. (http://www.signshop.tv/index.htm) They were really helpful and nice guys.

Im going to the DVLA on monday to see if the colour needs changing on the V5.

I hope I answered all questions, If not give me a shout.

Mark

Certainly different!

Could you just put two parallel yellow stripes, front to back on the passenger side, to make it invisiable?:D

Looks good............but what I would like to know is how they do the more fiddly areas. Like for example around the door recesses and screw heads. For an example of what I mean, see the third photo on post number 18 where you can see the blue paint in the door gap and around the screw head in the trim depression.
Surely these awkward areas must be painted?
And what about the under bonnet and under bootlid areas? Are these left blue, or do they finish them as well.? Of course, I realise that in the engine compartment it must be left as original blue as it would entail far too much work to cover this area.
Genuinely interested in how these things are done.
And lastly, is the work guaranteed?

.

It wouldn't be painted and up close you'd be able to see the blue paint under the vinyl skin.

I was told of someone who took a 70's 911 and put Martini racing livery vinyl skin on the car, and up close you could see the paint work underneath.

I'm pretty sure it will need changing (which is no big deal).

don't see why it would , the car is still the original colour underneeth.

Does that mean taxis need to get their colour changed when a new advert is put onto them?

All cars are grey 'underneath' (primer) :D

Surely the people who did the wrap would be able to advise - this must come up frequently. I think with resprayed bumpers you would have a job convincing anyone it was a 'temporary' colour change.
