Probably the stupid question of the week, but can anybody tell me how to turn on my front fog lights.

Car is 2015 E300 with Intelligent Lighting System.

There is one fog light switch which operates the rear fog lights. According to the handbook, when rear fogs are switched on, the front gogs should automatically swiotch on if I am driving belwo 70 KmPH. I have triede several times, but so far front fogs have failed to switch on.
Drove to the office this morning in thick fog, but no front fogs.

Your assistance is appreciated, thanks

Silly question but are you sure your car has front fog lights. My car despite being very high spec hasn't got them - surprising since every other car I have owned in the last decade (9 cars ) has.

Fog is one of the situations that the ILS will be adapting to, can't imagine there being a problem. How do you know that the lights weren't responding to the fog?

According to the manual they are part of the Intelligent Lighting System.

There are two indicator lamps in the cluster, one for front and one for rear foglights. The front one has so far never been lit.

In addition, when I was meeting all the conditions which the manual states are necessary for the front foglights to work, I tried switching the rear fogs off (the only fog-light switch in the car) and the lighting pattern at the front of the car remained unchanged, so I am pretty sure that the front fogs were never on.

Interesting that you say that fog is one of the situations which ILS adapts to. Does is detect fog? does the fog have to be thick enough before the front lamps will light?

I'd like to bet that the front fog indicator light on the dash is only operational on cars with a lower spec lighting setup, that cluster is probably fitted to a myriad of cars with different specs across different countries. I have ILS on my C Class and the lights swivel apparently but I can't say that I've noticed, I just assume that they do. You don't really need a Dash light to tell you that the front fogs are on if everything is automatic. A dash light is really to remind you to turn the fogs off when not required.
