Fuel Filler cap

Did the utterly dumb thing today of not putting my fuel cap back on having filled up with some well priced petrol, and then drove 60miles. Noticed the traffic fumes seemed to be strong and they got more petrolly so when I parked checked the filler cap to find it gone. Apart from wasting fuel, any thing I should look out for, and is the replacement cap best bought from a stealer?

Never done that before. Notch up one more senior moment.
