Around 15/17 years ago I was poodling around the back streets of venice, I met this chap who had built a wooden VW beetle, that "drove" and was "canal legal".

The standard of woodwork was "fine art" and the body itself had inlays, marquetry, etc.

it was essentially a mobile advert for his craft.

Intriguing objet d'art.

It's not full size though - somewhat smaller than a real one.

All that intricate work - particularly with the spokes - but let down by very clunky wipers and a preposterous steering wheel. If you can make the wooden spoked road wheels, you can make a proper wooden steering wheel.

Still, it is very nicely finished.
