ok then a week back my gear box started slipping jumping when changing gears so the gear box oil was low topped it up stopped slipping but when i use the gears it sticks and will not change if i turn engine off then back on all works again untill i use gears again any ideas

Get the fault codes read to be certain, but sounds like an electroplate or torque convertor problem.

Had similar problem a few years ago, 05 plate CLK, electroplate around £500 repair bill.

just been told there is some sort of electric switch in the gear box i forgot when i got the car was told it had a small leek at the switch.so maybe it may be that.engine warning light on sometimes gears are ok but sometimes they just stop working

The leak will be the pilot bushing, very common problem.it needs sorting because transmission fluid can wick up the wiring loom and into the TCU and Can get expensive to fix.

had it in garage says having problem getting it out says its stuck solid so have to book in as if it breakes may have to take box off so nothing goes inside

Rubbish, you dont have to take the box off at all.
It twists into the plastic electro plate & when it onto that you then tighten up a 7mm bolt until it "Snaps/clicks" ,when the 7mm bolt is tightened it expands the piot bush like a hilti bolt so it squashes the "O ring" seals.

To take out its the reverse, they might at worse break the electroplate to get it out but sounds as though you'll need a new one anyway.

Once off ,take the filter off the undo the valve chest & the electro plate is fitted on top of the valve chest...not hard at all.

Ok then switch in engine light back on coming up on test rear speed sensor changed that light back on they pulled drive shaft says there is a part on shaft that is worn or caroded anyone know what its called and where I can get it been told have to get full drive shaft

That is a reluctor ring and you really need to find another garage to sort your car out.

No need to buy a new shaft for that, but they are a bit of a pain to replace. - Heat is usually your friend.

I agree that your mechanic isn't inspiring much confidence in their work.
