I do find the 5 speed gearbox on my 2003 C320 quite sluggish to respond sometimes and often use the tiptronic mode to quicken overtaking maneuvers.

Is there a way to reset the gearbox ECU to a factory default at home or doe this have to be done via Star?

Many thanks

There's the old fashioned way of an Italian tune-up...

The gearbox gets to learn your driving style, so if you've been tootling about, it becomes rather sluggish. if you've been driving it like you stole it, then...

i know on the w211 there is a manual way of doing it to re-learn adaptations

for the w211 maybe others too

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position (pos2).
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

STAR is best way to have it re-set (just had mine done). My understanding of the ignition key, pedal method is that it is a throttle position re-set.

Takes two minutes on STAR
