Hi my father has a C Class auto and today whilst out driving the car would only engage second gear.
Does anyone know what would be the cause of this problem..

its a 2004 180 kompressor less than 25000 on the clock

Thanks for any help

Charles

It's gone into limp home mode.

Just resatrt it and see how it goes, if the fault continues then have the codes read.

You need to purchase the software and a set of diagnostic cables plus the multiplexer in order to plug into your ecu and read / reset the codes.

Hi well we got mobilo to come out and the guy ran a diagnostic on it and discovered it was a speed controller thingie under the gearbox. The technician reset the system and said try that, it work fine for abit then the problem returned. So we took the car to a local MB specialist with a printout of what the problem was, they were very helpful took a look a the print out and said "aah we loads in with that problem"
To cut a long story short they managed to get it booked in two days later and now works perfect even better than before.

Hope this sheds a bit of light on the subject if someone encounters the same problem.

You have to remove the sump on the gearbox and replace the electronic plate.

I suffered the same problem and had to have it done.

LOL it's an auto so u don't have much choice, and the triptronic stopped working, and the car would go into limp mode.
