On Tuesday I had occasion to drive 386 miles in 6 hours and 10 minutes. I stuck to the speed limit (75MPH most of the time) and I was overtaken only twice but each time by vans...

It was an ass in a Scirocco who held me up 15 miles from home...

Sorry but I Don't give a sh*t if it's clever or not, I hate people who try and intimidate road users, it's for everyone to use, I always give way to people and try and be sensible, I just don't have time for chavs who think they own the roads.
 
J-B-R might have something to say about some one going equipped...

So how does you coming out with a baseball bat and threatening another road user make you any better? The best way surely to show someone you don't agree with their tactics is not to stoop to their level?

I get out of my way to help out other road users.

Well

We got the car back tonight. Fuel pump knackered and replaced along with the filter which looked like a can of treacle.

As for baseball bats and things.. I hear you. This is my family and at that moment, if I had an Oozi to stick up that guys ass I would have happily done so and pulled the trigger.

Now that I have had time to calm down and reflect on the situation I think an Oozi would be too quick. So a 12 bore loaded with carpet tacks and stuffed down his throat might work better. Also less splatter to clear up for some poor sod.

We can but dream......
 
I agree totally with all the comments made in connection with this appalling incident. However, there is one comment I would like to make, and it is by no means a criticism, or a suggestion of any fault on the lady's part. My comment is (which I hope may be useful to the lady) : I would always recommend spending as little time as possible in the third lane- go into it to make your overtaking maneuver and get back into the middle or nearside line as quickly, and safely as possible. If you do this you spend less time in the company of the morons, such as those described. They tend to spend the majority of their journey in the third lane, oblivious to any other road user who may wish to pass them, and seem to resent anybody other than them who wishes to use the third lane,

Huh? The filter on my 202 is sealed. Did someone take an angle grinder or similar to it?
 
I think he means the strainer filter in the bottom of the tank , rather than the in line fuel filter .
 
Having misread the title, just thought I'd leave this one with you all...
Back in the mid 90's I almost became an accessory to murder.

I was well into sound recording equipment and making weird noises on a sampler etc.
Anyway a neighbour asked me to copy the contents from a micro-cassette (as in the dictaphone variety) onto a full sized C15 (if you remember what they are).
So I did so.. no questions asked.. a few evenings later and a knock on the door from my friendly local police asking me about the tape..

It turned out that my neighbour suspected his wife and another man of having no problems getting off on the motorway (M25). He wanted evidence and then when faced with what they were talking about on the tape, he took it a step further by stabbing his wife over 30 times in a frenzied jealous rage.

Is it any wonder why I'm reluctant to be more eager to help my fellow people?

Anyway a few days later I was driving home from Basingstoke on the M3 and I lost all power (the engine had seized). I was in the fast lane, at first it took me a few moments to realise that this was serious and I had to act, and quickly but purposefully moved to the hard shoulder. I had a black BMW close to my tail when this all started, and as soon as I put the hazards on he dropped right back - sensible chap!
Not everyone's an arrogant self-serving get-out-of-my-way driver - thankfully.

I suspect if what happened to the OPs dear lady happened to me instead today, I would insist on getting CCTV camera footage and push for dangerous driving.

Nope it is the in-line filter external to the tank and yes it is sealed. But when removed you can drain the contents. We did and what came out was not nice at all. Guiness & curry spring to mind.

Tech did show me that the filter is dated (2004) so was due for replacement. Difficult to know what came first as the pump was shot.
