I'm on a machine without Photoshop... so I'm stuck with GIMP... which feels horrid!

Anyhow... whining aside, does anyone know how to convert a color image to black-and-white?

That is, not greyscale - pure black and white (1 bit yada)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
M.

Thanks... I'm sad to say this (Especially as I've met one of the original coders of the gimp project) but PS is miles better.

Admittedly, I've been using PS for years, and GIMP for days... but it's just so convoluted!

I ended up finding something similar... Image>Mode>Indexed then select a 1-bit palette...

That said, it doesn't let you choose the threshold... so my letters look like dalmatians as for some weird reason the threshold is set at ultra-black...

Might have to wait until I get home to do this properly... grumble...

Typical... my contract renewal is going through the paces... so I kindly have been working without commercial coverage for a week or so...

Now I've been locked out of the system... apparently, the leavers process (which I created but a few weeks ago) is working... slowly, but it's working...

So... go home early given that it's snowing and I can't log-in? :p
