glow plug light

hi there
just recently my glow plug light will come on straight after start up
i always wait for it to go out when first starting but will then come on for around 10 - 15 seconds any ideas what could cause this the because it is still under warrenty its a 2001 c220 cdi thanks,,

thanks do you think the warranty would cover that?

Depends on the warranty but probably, it's an engine fault although they may be considered a consumable.
If the warranty company suggests they are then ask them what the change period is.?

Yep, one or more glowplugs gone down..........i would think that they would NOT be a warranty item as they are classed as 'consumables'...the same as oils and tyres, etc...

I have just had the identical problem with my W202 C220 CDI. Although the car would start fine the light immediately came on and remained lit for about 45 seconds. Spoke to my garage who said it was false economy to just replace the one faulty plug and I had a full set fitted. Problem solved and a very reasonable bill of £100 incl. Read up about doing the job myself but was dissuaded by the horror stories of seized or broken plugs! - Santefe999
