Does anyone know where the diesel glowplug relay/timer is located on a c class? W202 ? I think it is under the washer bottle.are they prone to playing up??
I had trouble starting this morning!!

Glowplug relay

What are the symptoms?

If it's like a W124 the glowplug relay is a large (about 4 x 3 x 2") black box on the nearside inner wing in front of the suspension tower

Normally one or two plugs fail and the car gets hard to start. When this happens the glowplug warning light comes on after the engine starts as a warning. I don't think the relays are troublesome. If there's no warning from the dash light I'd suspect an air leak into the fuel system or a tired battery

Glow plug lights up then goes out after 10 secs, engine cranks over fine but didnt start.finally got it to fire up on easy start.BTW the glow plugs were replaced 10k ago.No bubbles in the fuel line either.

A glow plug relay on a W124 300D I had packed up and cost, from memory, about £100 or so to purchase.

On mine the glow plugs were fine, but it took about 30 seconds for the glow plug light to go out and even then it was a pretty lumpy start.

Talking to my Indi at the time, he did mention that its not uncommon to have them fail, mainly due to the age of some of the cars nowadays, ie 10 years +
