hello people, my first post and your help needed.
e300 d 1996
car wouldnt start, got mechanic to have look (wish i didnt now!!!!). was told i needed to change glow plugs i agreed. he managed to change 2 they were all very difficult to turn. now the problem is that on the remaining 4 the nuts on the plugs have come off (plugs have not snapped). any recomendations as to what to do next to get them out??. are there any companies that can come and remove them?? what are my options??????????
any help will be greatly appreciated

I had the very same problem on 1 of my glowplugs.

The trick is to remove the glowplugs from the engine when the engine is hot as the plugs tend to be easier to take out.

Well you have 2 options, one is to have them drilled out in situ or option 2 is to remove the head and have them taken out properly.

Just type in "Glow Plug Removal" into the search on this Forum and there are 9 "Threads" to read up on the subject. Dare I say it - you may be faced with the cylinder head having to come off but there is a company mentioned that removes glow plugs in situ.

Good luck!!

Grant

thanks guys
