Car
mb w211 estate
Hi all, I Have arranged a test drive in this car sometime next week to part ex my 2001 c180 it looks good in the advert are there any things I should watch out for ie. common faults or niggles.I would be grateful for any input about this car.
Mercedes-Benz Retail Used Cars – Vehicle Details :: C200 KOMPRESSOR Elegance with Parktronic=

The price seems ok but i need to do more searching. How much would this car have cost new?
The salesman said I should get 40mpg.What could I really expect.Thanks:thumb:.

I dont think you will be seeing 40mpg mate. My 2005 C180k manual gives me around 30mpg! (75% in city driving and 25% distance run driving)

Our CLK with much the same engine does around 32-34 in general use. 40 is possible on a long motorway run but only just. Best ever for ours was 42mpg over 1000 gentle (75mph) motorway miles to Italy

Get in the car, and look at the trip computer average MPG. unless its been reset it will show you what you can expect to get

Test Drive

Hi,I went to mb park royal to see the 2007 c200k with the worry that I would not get the milage I was hoping for they had phoned me not to come as the car was not preped but I insisted. The car was lovley few scuffs here and there the trip read 40 mpg. on 123 miles.I felt that I was in my car c180, and the sand coloured leather looked like it would mark so easy being so light. The next salesman gave me a tour of the new shape diesel models wow and an E class, I didn't realise how much bigger they are untill I sat in it, all the cars he showed me were above my budget:eek:.He sugested that I look at a coupe only one on the lot in my budget. As the traffic had stoped us from taking the c200 on a test drive and I was not happy with the c200 he said to take the coupe for a test drive,The traffic was still heavy but it drove well from what i could tell .The split fold down seats seemed practal and I could fit my three large friends inside as it did not seem to cramped in the back. The salesman said 50+mpg.I will look on Parkers etc but any experiences of this model from members would be apreciated.Does it look like a girls car not that would stop me if it fits the bill and is reliable, comfortable with good mpg so what if I look like a girl, been called worse in the past:rock:.Thanks opinions apreciated.

Personally i prefer the c-class, but then i may be biased :p

over life, my C200k (estate) combined average was about 30mpg. On a run 37 average was easy, best ever for a single journey was 44mg on a long v steady M1 journey.

Hi ***

Hi, would you please tell me the reasons you think the clc is not as good as he salon model is it the look or the engine or the trim that is inferior to the salon.Should I be looking at a larger engine to deal with the extra body weight. Thanks for your time:thumb:.

Euge.

Euge,
If you are either under 25 or over 60, the CLC will be all right.

If you are anything inbetween get the saloon.

I really like the W204, if I could fit my tribe in, I'd buy one.

What are your requirements? Do you need to ferry children about? Or just you and the missus?

Euge,
Don't touch the CLC it's not really a Mercedes. Just pretends to be one.....Definitely get the C class saloon. I had one similar to the one in your advertvert which was in Tansinite blue and light leather and loved it for years. The only problem with the colour mix is that you have very light coloured carpets which are hard to keep clean. Much prefer the black carpet in my E class.... Otherwise that model C class is very good in my experience.

Requirments?

Hi,Thanks for your input, my main requirments are changing and I am now looking at estate models not for any large tribes but a gang of maurading mates going off for a days fishing ,varies sometimes three or four friends and gear.I like the frugal nature of the e class diesel not sure what mpg to expect from each engine size. The extra space i could use for work projects shifting to and fro. Thanks for your time:thumb:.

The E class estate is a much better proposition for carrying around some mates. I've been driving a brand new C350cdi sport estate for about a month, and it is a really sweet car. But the room in the back seat is very limited! Far better room in the E class estate. As for the engine, if you are buying new, then I am partial for the 250CDI for economy with the latest 7 g tronic PLUS auto box. If you want presence and power, then it must be the 350 cdi. Also, get it with the "plus" auto, if available, for better economy.

Cheers

Hi,I have been looking at e class estate's on piston heads and vcars hope to post some examples soon.I like the e class ********** se I have been told to steer clear of sports as the ride is harder due to the sports suspention.Would the 2.2 engine have to work to hard.I am thinking of a larger engine as it would not have to work so hard. Thanks for your time:thumb:.

I don't know if the mileage bothers you but forum member 'gizze' is selling his 2007 E320 cdi avantgarde estate. It's in the for sale section on the forum.

Thanks Sweetpea

Hi,Thanks for the head's up about the car.I know, I should be better at searching!.all a learning curve:thumb:.

On a "normal" run I generally get mid-30's mpg. On a reasonable run over 40mpg is easy.
The best I have ever got was about 51mpg on a run from Basingstoke to Bromley.
And that with an ageing W203 C200K auto.
Mind you, I always drive in "C" mode and I dont blast it. Smooth and easy is my motto.
