Hi All!

I'm a newbie to the Mercedes world with my 05 plate clk320. currently i'm having an issue with the crankshaft position sensor and need it replaced but don't know any indys for merc in my area so was hoping someone could help me find one. I've heard of George fosters but googled them and seen a few really bad reviews too so not sure about them.

can someone please advise as to where I should take my car so I don't get ripped off?

also, can someone confirm that the parts in the below search results will fit in my car?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Car-Parts-/6030/i.html?_from=R40&_sop=15&mvsub=1&_mcatda=true&selfil=2%2C3%2C1%2C9%2C8&selvel=Mercedes-Benz%7ECLK%7E2005%7EA209%2520%255B2003-2010%255D%2520Convertible%7ECLK%2520320&_nkw=crankshaft%20position%20sensor%20Mercedes-Benz%20CLK%202005%20A209%20CLK%20320

thanks in advance

just called them, he said its about 200 all in, about half/half on labour vs parts.

is that a decent price?

seems like a nice enough guy.

If Terry has stated all in he will supply the part you dont need to buy a cheap Chinese part that will be ready for replacement this time next week.
and i also only have praise for Terry's work.

Tony.

+1 for Terry. Heard nothing but good about his work.

wasn't thinking to buy a cheap Chinese part at all...but don't wanna pay retail either.

Check their website out, they use genuine Mercedes parts.

+1 for Terry @ Wayne Gates. I've used them for some work and was happy with the price and service.:thumb:

its same a bosch tho, I can just source a bosch part and it will probably cost half.

Bosch are good!!!! I think Delphi are another one that are suppliers to Mercedes as well.

If that is what the guy recommends, I would go with that. You are not only paying for his expertise for the work but also for his experience in choosing the best parts for the job. No offence but you only get what you pay for and £200 for supply, fitting, checking STAR and deleting fault codes seems good to me.

EDIT: Just read through the others posts and wished I hadn't made the recommendation…"you don't want to pay retail for the part" and "I can just source a bosch part and it will probably cost half". Do that then and if it happens to be faulty part or cheap copy, don't take it out on the poor sod who fits it for you.

I'm thinking the same:dk:
Cheapskate springs to mind.
Like GVM above, go ahead, buy the part but don't whinge if it turns out to be wrong.
Does Terry freely agree to fit parts supplied by the customer?

That part on eBay is cr@p. £9 99 for a CPS :wallbash:!

Terry is first class! He did some great work on my CLS. Total recommendation!

Most people here see specialists like Wayne Gates as an alternative to the normal Stealership, but get the same quality service with genuine parts.

If your thinking is different to that, then by all means source the cheapest part with the cheapest labour to fix it. But bear in mind what they say buy cheap pay twice!!!!

cheapskate springs to mind sorry if that offends

This chap broke down this evening and had his car recovered to the shop.
So I don't think he is a cheapskate. Reading the thread back I think he was just weary of price and the like ( which is understandable)
Hopefully the cps is not seized, and we'll have him up and running in the morning sometime

thanks Terry. you were the first person I rang and my personal car is an e46 m3 and I know about how much things cost for that, I know very little about mercs.

I must say, I was very impressed by your service especially as you were willing to take calls out of hours. advised my dad now to come to you and not the stealership.

thanks again.
