SL was in for a service at M-B Guildford (Tony Purslow) yesterday. They give 40% labour discount (plus 10% off parts) for all cars 6 or more years old, free MOTs too.
Due to the weather forecast I decided at the last minute to drop it off on Thursday night. Got held up in traffic and arrived at 7:05 PM (they close at 7). Was expecting to have to leave the car in the road and put the keys through the door, but met the guy closing up for the night in the car park. He happily lowered the bollards again to let me put the SL in their car park, took my keys, and opened up the dealership again to put them on the service desk.
Rang at 9AM yesterday to give check the contact number (as I was working from home), and they'd already given the car a check over and were about to call me. The car was due a 'major' service, but due to the low mileage they suggested various items that could be skipped (plugs, for one) to reduce the cost. They'd checked the coolant and the anti-freeze level was fine so no need to change that, etc. Quite happy for me to supply the oil (from Costco) too.
Only 'extra' needed was replacement of the rubber sections of the rear brake lines, which were starting to perish. This had been mentioned the previous year, but they'd said then it could wait until the brake fluid was replaced this time.
Car was ready on time at 4PM, had been given a full valet inside and out (including tyres dressed etc.) and looked fantastic. Biggest challenge was keeping it clean on the way home
OK it's a 13 year old car (almost) but they do seem genuinely interested & helpful and pleased to have it in.
