Good news but........

Good news I bought a 5th Mirzam wheel as a spare for £32 on ebay. Better news I explained that I really wanted a non polished edge one in order to match my other four but that his polished rim one would do. When it arrived he had reburbished it to match mine and it arrived boxed and wearing a wheel cover to stop its new finish from getting scratched!!! :bannana: All for £32!!!

..........a little but. I've just discovered that the factory bits holder that sits inside the spare wheel in the boot, no longer fits because the wheel is thicker than a steel wheel so the bits basket sits too high to shut the floor down properly.

As far as I can tell, all w202 models come with the same plastic bucket/shell, regardless of spare wheel. Mine has a factory spare alloy and the bucket/shell seems to fit ok, try taking it out and moving it around a bit

Is one side of your bucket higher than the other?

I've got a 17" spare in the wheelwell and the bucket sits flush. The bucket is the same height all round though.

One side is higher which is stopping it from fitting with the bigger wheel. I think I'll do without it!

couldn't you get a hacksaw out and chop it down a bit? the bucket that is not the wheel

Thats it! a Square wheel would fit better and store more bits!

I have a factory spare stock sports alloy as Shude does and my bucket is also higher one side than it is the other and no problem for me, it all fits flush. It sounds like you have your bucket facing backwards once it's screwed down. What happens if you take out the plastic screw from the bottom of the wheel well, turn it through 180° and try to refit it?
