good / recommended Indy in Manchester?

I'm coming up for a B service and after frittering away thousands on my previous services over the years I'm thinking it's time to look after the pennies. Anyone got a tried and tested recommendation?

Nb, I did try to search the forum but I'm away from home as usual and the Android app point blank refuses to let this happen, hence this is no doubt a repeat post.

I use spr autos in Stockport.
Very good service, friendly staff and reasonably priced.
They have a website with their servicing costs.
(they are usually busy so you need to book in advance, but this is because they are a quality garage)

My E class is due a service. It's coming up 4 years old, 36,000 miles and so I gather is due a B service and a gearbox service.

SPR have quoted me £200 plus £130 plus VAT , so just a few pennies off £400.

Being new to posh car ownership, I've never been faced with the prospect of such a bill!

Is this a reasonable price? Any idea how it would compare with an authourised MB service centre?

Be careful of the scope of work being quoted for - you can't just say "service" with a Merc, as pretty well anything apart from the oil and filter change is extra.

4yrs the biggest service when pretty well every service item needs doing - air filter, fuel filter on a diesel, spark plugs on petrol, brake fluid etc. SPR's quote of £130+VAT for the ATF change is pretty good. The service price is OK ish, but it's probably only for the basic B service, not the extra work.

I had the same work, plus brake fluid change, done at MB Chester for £430 inc VAT.

MB Chester, where I bought the vehicle, have quoted £801.45.

I can get a decent car for that.
