Got that itch again!

I got 37mpg from mine on a 400 mile drive from Edinburgh and mine's a C320 so I would expect 40mpg+ will be relatively easy to achieve!

Not necessarily because a given model of car requires exactly the same amount of power to travel at a given speed regardless of engine size.
Admittadley there are two less cylinders so less internal friction, however there is a power sapping supercharger to drive which probably adds more load than the additional cylinders.

42 involves light feet and lots of cruise being used. Cruise has to be used correctly too , switch it off going down hill and not letting cruise resume , but accelerating yourself easilly up to your speed :)

Another tip on the gearbox ( excuse the pun) is to tip up , this will put you in the highest gear possible. Driving like this is how i manage 60 odd MPG in mine.

Some times I don't use resume for the same reason, it really works. Keep the revs below 2000 and let the speed gradually roll on.

Driving style can easilly reduce consumption by 25% or more.

OK. I'll try and be good and see what I can get the mpg upto.
