Great Service

Friday night I set off to visit my parents, the first time I have driven the car at night. Every other car started to flash me and a lorry I overtook not only flashed me he blew his horn at me as I passed him. I wasn't driving along with main beam engaged, at least not deliberately anyway.

After a while this became extremely irritating so I stopped at a service station and 'borrowed' some sellotape and stuck paper napkins over the top of the headlights. That stopped most of the flashing by ongoing drivers.

On Saturday morning I checked my lights and nothing seemed odd except the light adjustment switch seemed to do nothing. When I took out the left headlight bulb the filament inside broke, but I could not see how the leveling mechanism worked. I decided to visit the local Mercedes main dealer in Hanley. The Service Manager told me they had changed the bulb, fixed the levelling mechanism and checked the lights against their MOT tester and all was now well. It had taken about 30 minutes or so, so imagine my surprise when I was presented with a bill for less than £8, which was just for one bulb.

Great service indeed.

The trip up country was probably the longest the car has ever had and I am pleased to say it performed perfectly there and back.
