Greedy Google Chrome

I have 1 tab open, but according to Task Manager chrome.exe*32 has 6 processes running.

Is this normal or is something amiss?

Completely normal for Chrome, and nothing to worry about - are you using Chrome to access GMail and Calendar?

Yep normal.
Any extensions or apps/plugins you have running will run in their own process.
Each tab will have its own chrome.exe process etc.
