Hi, I bought a W123 230CE from the UK and exported the car to Malaysia. It has been 4 months since its arrival here.
Unfortunately it has not been able to be registered and now black listed by the authorities here due to :

1. Chassis numbers on the bulkhead is not clear due to rust and corrosion

2. There was a marking XXXXXXX above the chassis number and this has been disputed by the Ministry of Transport here. I do not know why the numbers were cancelled and crossed out XXXXXXXX

No

Now they need a confirmation as to why the numbers were crossed out Xxxxxx

If the car cannot be registered i would lose 10000 GBP in total for buying the car with import duties paid, freight and transportation, import permit etc

Log book photos removed - not a good idea to share them on a public forum!

Welcome. 🙂👍

Very strange........ VIN clearly crossed out and re stamped......only seen this one before....on an old 420. Was proven to be completely correct and an error that was corrected whilst still at the factory.....but I agree it does look hooky.

the original VEHICLE datacard can be obtained by contacting Mercedes-Benz Classic Center at [email protected] they can also offer an explanation for the bulkhead stampted alteration which will have originated at the factory assembly line

Nice car. Hope you get the registration sorted.
Thank you. I am very stressed. I am trying to get more details as to why those numbers were Xed ..

If the car cannot be registered here in Malaysia, i would have lost 10k pounds...my retirement savings.

HERE'S A W116 EXAMPLE--poor photo but you get the idea

Thank you. Did you get any confirmation as to why the numbers were crossed out? If possible i would like to get the confirmation but I dont know where to get it from.

Hi There and welcome .... A very odd occurence and one that i have not personally encountered, but does look factory rather than oik related - Nice choice of car by the way

I am really hoping that Mercedes UK ir Germany would be able to confirm that it was done ex factory. If not, I still cannot register the car here in Malaysia and it will be a total loss. I bought the car from the UK and the car arrived here in December. Until now it is still unregistered and blacklisted until I get a confirmation. I have emailed Mercedes UK and Germany but no positive replies yet

sorry no -nothing in the thread- but pretty sure its a factory line change is your VIN WDB1232432A132920 on the reg document? try looking under the rear parcel shelf in the boot for a paper document stuck there
