Hi all, first post for me here. Hopefully you can help, I see there’s some knowledgable people on the forum.
I have a W205 that’s developed the grey lined screen of death, the reverse camera works but all other functions of the screen after it’s booted are inoperative. I’ve accessed the unit, agitated the wiring to rule that out, with no change, reset the unit, checked connectors on the screens itself. The unit is now at a car electrical shop and they’ve diagnosed the Logic Control Board failed and quoted £1200 to replace just the board!!
So my questions are, can I buy a second hand unit and rob the LCB to replace the one in my unit to avoid coding, and 2, will a second hand unit need coding to the car, and how can/who can it be done, does it need a code from the donor vehicle.
Sorry for the long post, but I like to give all the info I have!!
Thanks in advance.

Firstly, is this Audio20 or COMAND Online 5*2?

Then, these units have theft protection.

Only buy a second hand unit that is supplied with the anti-theft code. This code cannot be obtained after the unit has been removed from the donor car, it must be obtained before removal of the unit.

And, if buying a secobd hand unit, make sure that the MB part number matches that of your existing unit - there are many variants that externally look the same, but aren't.

Sounds like you might have a similar issue that I had a few weeks ago:

Hi
These issue can be caused either by the software needs updating in the audio unit which normally fixes this issues when first released saw hundreds of these issues and then secondly if you have something plugged into the USB ports this can also cause the issue. Have you tried pressing and holding down the power button for approx 25 seconds to perform a system reset ?
