Hi, my wife has managed to get splashes of gunge up the grill, bonnet, windscreen and roof of her car (BMW ), it is really quite tough, almost like superglue - it is almost but not quite 'set' apart from on the chrome surround to the grill vanes where it is solid and looks like a tan / resin colour.
Not sure where it came from, but looks from the way it is splashed up over the car, as if it was whilst driving.
Question is how to clean it - I have tried bug cleaner etc on the windscreen but did not touch it, so tried petrol (after we put it out you couldn't see the marks! - LOL), the petrol eventually took it off the glass with some serious rubbing, but wary of it being too tough for the paintwork.
Any suggestions?
It is a 3 yr old metallic blue, and is in an 'individual' colour so we know that repainting would be criminally expensive.
I would appreciate any advice before heading for the stealers
