Atrocious service with Halfords Online delivery

I ordered 3 Meguairs cleaning products to be delivered to my home using a gift card & part payment using a debit card, all seemed well & DHL confirmed delivery. Unfortunately, DHL delivered to the wrong address & checking Halfords had sent micro fibre cloths via DHL & the other two items were to be picked up from the Torquay store which is 35 miles from my home. Eventually the DHL guy managed to retrieve the incorrectly delivered micro fibre cloths & Halfords refunded the cost of the Meguiars shampoo & tyre gel with a further gift card. HOORAY

I ordered the two Meguiars products again for delivery DHL confirmed delivery and all seemed well, then yesterday the DHL driver arrived with an empty box, no products whatsoever inside.

In the words of Victor Meldrew ( One Foot in The Grave) I DON'T BELIEVE IT

As much as I dislike Halfords, here they are the only place I can walk up and buy items for the car. - everywhere else has closed years ago.

So its Halfords or a 2 day wait via Amazon etc.
It's sad. We used to have a really good independent 'car shop' locally. Stocked full of parts, accessories, paint and what are now called "detailing" products and run by real enthusiasts who actually knew their product.
Killed off by Halfords, the World Wide Wobble and ever increasing high street property costs.

So it’s Amazon every time for me.

Enormous range of products, always cheaper than Bricks & Mortar prices, delivered overnight with no delivery charge.

Which is the main reason Highstreet shops have died :(
This was my issue on this forum recently re a discussion about importing car parts in from other EU countries because they were cheaper.

What will happen when we buy everything via the internet, or import it from Europe?

We'll have saved a lot of money,
but more importantly we'll always be able to access the more arcane kit that we want.

Like the odd sized Brabantia ironing board cover in an odd size which I ordered last week that I would have had to buy in a John Lewis, "if" they'd had stock.

Or the 20 piece "watch repair" kit that I bought a long while back, which turned up in the following day's post. Cost? Three quid.

Consider all the arcane "detailing" products which we love. In the "good old days" Autoglym was about the only premium product you could get from "your local motor factor."

Buying from a local shop still has an advantage over importing from Europe, because returning faulty or incorrect goods is easier, but not over online retailers like Amazon, where returns are even easier than the high street.

It's the Blockbuster video shop that I miss.

Friday evening with the kids, and a tenner's worth of videos to celebrate the weekend.

(BTW - Watched the latest Beverly Hills Cop movie last night. Was sceptical but it was surprisingly good. Clever script in addition to all the usual "action" nonsense. 80% on rottentomatoes )

I’ve never had to return anything to Amazon.

Consider yourself lucky... :D

I've received the wrong goods on a few occasions.

Including when I bought iCarsoft from Amazon and received a box containing cleaning materials (apparently the boxes were swapped by Amazon by mistake - the box with the cleaning materials had the correct shipping label and my order number).

Amazon asked me to return the box and refunded the cost in full. I then ordered the iCarsoft online from another supplier.

And just how do you know? Lead plays havoc with one's nails I suppose......
I remember from my days as a cross-dresser.
