Has anyone any experience of Hamer Car Lifts? (It might be the parking solution I am looking for?!)

The HAMER Car Lift

DRUK has something similar in his garage , parks the SL 'upstairs' with the 211 underneath !

It looks like four "Jackall" type jacks, one at each corner, they lift about 1" per stroke. It would take an age to lift to that height, a couple of inch per corner, you'd be dizzy (and knackered) by the time you raised it the 3 foot or so that these jacks go to.

thats one way off keeping the kids away from your pride and joy

Talbir has a proper ramp in his garage... worth the investment if you are the type to get your hands dirty.

Are you proposing to have one car raised above and then park another underneath it?

You wouldn't want one of those to fail then...

I don't know what to make of that idea. Do you really do this Talbir?

If you ever get the chance to snag a copy of Garage Life magazine, you'll see that parking (some seriously valuable) cars double-decker-style like this really is quite commonplace in small places like Japan.

Derek's is also a 'proper' 2 post hydraulic ramp - it has substantial metal locking pieces that you put in at increments , so you are not relying on the hydraulics to keep a car up in the air : raise on the hydraulics to just above the required height , then put the keys in and drop back onto them .

I don't think the cost was vastly different to the articles shown above .

I have to rely on a set of four ramps plus a couple of trolley jacks to work on my cars as I don't have a garage or much spare space .

yep, i installed the Bendpak lift - single phase and all singing, all dancing...removable centre pieces on bed to enable servicing, single post only, so doesn't restrict any access for other cars. Has an almighty huge hydraulic strut coupled with steel locking plate that self-locks. So all user needs to do is press a button to lower or lift.

This Bendpak lift is 'over-engineered' w.r.t. strength, it's MIGHTY !

Blimey - I didn't know such things existed. Looks like a very efficient use of space. :thumb:
